NamNambulu is a band from Swiss, and it's a very rare thing to hear a synthpopband from the southern part of Europe. Off course this don't affect the music but I must admit that I am a bit impressed that a band can sound so bloody good even though they are origin from a country which don't really got that much to do with synthpop.
It's not often you find a record that good that you hardly can believe it. That kind of record you just have to play over and over like poison for your
stereo. It might happen once every second year. My stereo has mostly been on standby for the last year because of the lack of a record like that, but no more. The group is called NamNambulu and they have taken over my stereo with their record "Distances". It sounds somewhat like a tasty blend of Colony 5, Mesh and De/Vision and the sound that bounce out of my speakers gives my neighbourhood the shill, but I find it amazing.
The music is pop, it's happy and it's an album containing 11 very different tracks. Add the very classical voice of Henrik Iversen, singing beautiful lyrics with a soft voice and you will feel that this is as good as it can get. It's happy and it's pop but at the same time a bit depressed. The record is very well produced and the sound is next to perfection. This is something you will hear on the first track "Memories", an amazing song to open the record with. It's a bit like what VNV Nation would sound like if they were pop, and that's maybe not so strange since it was Ronan Harris from VNV Nation who discovered the band and made sure they got signed.
The record might feel it's not assorted as good as it could have been. It starts with the more upbeat ones and then it slows down. But one thing is sure, it's a very good debut and I?m convinced that we will be hearing more from NamNamBulu in the future.
